Dear Creekside Stinger Families,
We have reached the last week of our inaugural school year. Last week we buried our Time Capsule, to be opened in 2070. How old will your Stinger be then? I’ll likely be gone…but the time capsule and the memories of this incredible year will remain.
We are so grateful to you for your partnership and patience this year as we approached school in a whole new way. I am proud of our kids and our staff for the growth our Stingers made this year. The following reading data are for our K-5 students. The attendance data below that includes our Preschoolers.
As you can see, our kids made tremendous reading growth, which is part of Creekside’s mission, or our “why”! To keep the growth going, please make sure your Stinger reads, reads, reads this summer.
Reading is just like any other skill. It takes consistent practice! When children don’t practice reading during the summer months, they stand to lose a LOT of learning. This is called “Summer Slide.” Here are some ways to prevent it! Also, consider limiting or eliminating screen time all together and go to the library to complete a reading challenge as a family!
The first day of school will be Tuesday, September 7. As long as back-to-school guidance from the Spokane Regional Health District allows, our hope is to have a “Grand Re-Opening” on September 1 from 6-7 pm. We would LOVE to have an opportunity for our kids to show you their school; many of you have never gotten to see it! Stay tuned for information via email, Facebook, and text about this.
Read on for some important updates!

Ongoing, remainder of school year
Kindergarten Registration for 2021-22! Please tell your neighbors and friends in the Mead School District. Regardless of whether you want to have your kids in remote learning or face-to-face learning next year, please get them registered as soon as possible so we can plan for Stinger Staff! If your child is a preschooler starting Kindergarten next year, you must re-register at your home school. Here is the link to go right to the online registration page.
If your child is a preschooler who will be moving into a Developmental Learning Center for Kindergarten, you will register him or her at your neighborhood school. The determination about which DLCs all children will attend has not been made yet, but you can go ahead and register.
