Dear Creekside Stinger Families,
This week’s Buzz is a little later than usual. There are just a couple of items for you to be aware of.
I have a few parents who have agreed to be on our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Team. This team will meet first in June to launch the work, then once per trimester next year. In subsequent years, our team will continue to meet 2 – 3 times per year. Our work will include:
- the formation of our vision of equity at Creekside
- a review of Creekside’s routines, rituals, procedures, and programs to check for cultural sensitivity through filters of multiple perspectives
- collaborative plan for building staff and community awareness of issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested.
Growth, Love, and Learning,
Parent and Family Engagement Plan
We are slowly building our school into the community of our hopes and dreams, and YOU are an important part of this work. Please plan to attend our next PTSO meeting to help us draft our Parent and Family Engagement Plan, which is an important part of our Title I Program. You will not be asked to do anything beyond this meeting. It is simply a time for you to share your ideas and feedback about how we engage with our parents and families to support kids’ academic growth. Tuesday, May 11; 6 – 7 pm via this Zoom link.
Here come the Bulldogs!
We are excited to be able to offer Gonzaga University our very own Mead Union Stadium for its graduation ceremonies this coming weekend, May 8 and 9. If you live in the immediate neighborhood or plan to use the playground this weekend, please be advised of the potential for increased traffic around the school and stadium.
RSVP for Next Year
We are already beginning to plan for next year! Please help us by completing this “2021-22 School Year RSVP” if you have not already done so. Nearly 100 families have already responded. Do you know a Creekside family who does not check their email frequently? Please alert them to look!
PTSO meeting: Tuesday, May 11; 6 – 7 pm via this Zoom link
Remote Learning Day, May 28 and June 11
There will be no in-person learning on Friday, May 28 or Friday, June 11. Instead, students will receive remote learning instructions and assignments while teachers collaborate to focus on improving student learning.
Ongoing, remainder of school year
Kindergarten Registration for 2021-22 begins! Please tell your neighbors and friends in the Mead School District. Regardless of whether you want to have your kids in remote learning or face-to-face learning next year, please get them registered as soon as possible so we can plan for Stinger Staff! If your child is a preschooler starting Kindergarten next year, you must re-register at your home school. Here is the link to go right to the online registration page.
If your child is a preschooler who will be moving into a Developmental Learning Center for Kindergarten, you will register him or her at your neighborhood school. The determination about which DLCs all children will attend has not been made yet, but you can go ahead and register.
