Creekside Stinger Buzz September 24, 2020

Dear Creekside Families,

We are wrapping up a safe and happy Week 1 at Creekside! Our Kindergarteners joined us today and our preschoolers will join us on Monday next week. Things will really be hopping!

I’d like to thank you for your awesome cooperation in observing our drop off and pick up procedures by using Sheridan and Freya instead of the bus loop. Our bus drivers really appreciate it, as well! Thanks also for saying your goodbyes each morning and your hellos each afternoon at the fence. This keeps the crowd down on the blacktop and keeps us all safer.

Here are a few things from the Hive:

Urgent: Student Headphones Needed
If you have not already done so, please consider sending some inexpensive headphones to school for your Kindergarten through 5th grader. Kid-sized ear buds work just fine. If you wish to send extras for children who do not have any, we would be so grateful! Just indicate that they are extra and have your child give them to the teacher. If you can send them by Monday, September 28, it will be a huge help; we will begin assessing our kids' skills in math and reading using computer-assisted programs in order to better differentiate for them.

Student Arrival

Thank you for sending your Stingers at 8:50 for breakfast and no earlier than 9:00 am if they are not eating breakfast. This will help us keep kids safe. Remind your kids that if their class has already gone inside, they must enter through the same doors that our breakfast eaters enter through. If you bring your child to school after 9:15, please bring them to the front doors of the school and into the office.

Creekside Swag!

Our online store has been opened a few times. The second order will ship either tomorrow or Friday, so if you ordered in the second round (in August) you can look for your products in the mail within the next week or so.

Didn’t get a chance to buy a shirt for your Stinger? No problem! The Creekside Store will be open from Monday, September 28 to Monday, October 12. Kids’ shirts are of great quality and are under $5. If you wish to buy an extra kids’ shirt for children who do not have one, we would welcome your generosity. Youth sizes extra small, medium, large and adult sizes small and medium would be appropriate as our kids who range from pre-Kindergarten to 5th grades. If you wish to do this, you would simply place the order and then send the extra shirt to the school when it arrives. Thank you for considering this generous gesture so that all Stingers can show their school spirit!

And speaking of Stinger Spirit…

Consider sending your Stinger to school each Friday in his or her Stinger gear! I’ll be wearing my Stinger shirt tomorrow and I hope kids will join me.

Picture Day is coming!

Individual Picture Day is going to be on Tuesday, October 6 for grades K-5 and for our Tuesday/Thursday Preschoolers. Our photographers will return the following day, Wednesday, October 7, for our Monday/Wednesday Preschoolers. Watch your Monday folders on October 5 for picture day envelopes.

And finally, a word from Kids’ Newspaper:

This publication has gone online!

The publisher writes, “In this issue you will find great community resources, health and education information, fun activities and recipes, and great stories of amazing things happening in our community. We will continue to recognize a teacher of the month, an awesome secretary, and a local hero. We would love to hear from you and the parents/students in your school. There are buttons to click in the paper to send in your nominations.”

Thanks for reading, Families! Go Stingers!
